This was one of the hardest milestones

I like to celebrate every milestone I achieve on Medium.

When I first achieved 1,000 followers, I did this. When I achieved 2,000 followers, I did this. When I achieved 3,000 followers, I did this. When I achieved 5,000 followers, I did this. And I will continue doing this!

Now I’m at the 6,000 followers milestone. Yeyy🎉🎉🥳

If you zoom out and see the bigger picture, you’ll realize how big a crowd looks like with 6,000 people. For instance, this is how a crowd looks of a pool filled with 6,000 people:

I know there aren’t 6,000 people. So assume the crowd is much bigger than this! (Pic)

Isn’t it scary meeting 6,000 people in person?

We often take granted for how many followers we have. We often don’t actually visualize it, so it seems nothing to us. But if you do visualize it, you’ll be shocked by the people you have in front of you. So don’t take it for granted — doesn’t matter whether you have 100 or 1,000 followers.

Since I’ve got 6,000 followers, here are my two cents on audience building.

As you grow, the journey becomes a lot easier. And this is why I say “It’s only hard in the beginning.” Your first 100 or 1,000 followers milestone will be a lot harder than the 2,000 or 5,000 followers milestone.

However, the algorithm changes a lot and for this reason, sometimes you don’t achieve the milestone that you thought would be easy to accomplish.

But, my friend. The milestones— these followers count — they don’t really matter as much as you think they do. What matters is the journey. Are you enjoying the journey? Are you enjoying the process of writing, and every single day of creating, publishing, interacting, and engaging with others?

If not, you’re playing the wrong game.

No matter how many followers you get, no matter how big your account becomes, if you’re not enjoying the journey itself, you’re wasting your time and energy writing online!

So the best advice I can give you is to enjoy the journey.

That being said,

I’ve got 6,000 followers, but what about you? Because at the end of the day, you’re following me because you want something from me. You don’t care whether I have 6,000 followers or 60,000 followers. What you actually care about is “What I can do for you.” And that’s why you follow me, right?

So here’s the deal:

Congratulate me, introduce yourself, and tell people why they should follow you in the comment section of this story. This might help you get new followers, friends, and fellow creators. I hope it helps.

Keep crushing it on Medium!
