Useful Lessons I’m Taking From 2024

2024: the good, the bad, the ugly

#1: Don’t Wait, Start Now: The New Year, the Sunday, the birthday, or any specific day doesn’t really matter. Don’t wait for any specific day or time unless it’s required. Whether it’s starting a new project, building a new habit, learning guitar, getting a new job, or approaching your crush — the Sunday, the next month, the new year — does not matter. This took me so long to realize, but I think I’ve finally overcome this “Waiting” dilemma.

#2: Avoid Shiny Objects: You can do anything but you can’t do everything because you only have so many hours in a day, week, month, or year. So just pick the most important ones that you think are the best, and then go all in. This applies to both business and life. For example, I’m not active on Medium these days because it’s not on my plate anymore, it’s a shiny object that distracts me from my main work.

#3: Don’t Waste Your Time: Your time is the most valuable asset you own, and you choose how you want to spend it. Scrolling TikTok, Twitter, or Reels will not going to solve your problem or benefit you. But writing one paragraph or just a few lines of code has benefits. This too took me so long to realize, and now I spend less than a minute watching videos on YouTube and less than 30 seconds scrolling Twitter. You get the point.
