It takes time to gain specific knowledge and experience.

Whether you’re a software engineer, freelancer, doctor, writer, or content creator, you must put in the work and grind so hard to learn the skill you want to learn and acquire the knowledge you want to acquire.

Experience comes from knowledge, kowledge comes from doing the work.

As a writer, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge and experience throughout my writing journey. But I find it hard to advise people on the topic I have knowledge and experience around.

What if it didn’t work for them? What if the knowledge didn’t help them? What if you suck at giving advice? This what-if… question has bugged me so much until I know this!

So here’s what I now do to share my knowledge and experience online.

This is what has worked for me…might work for you. Take it or leave it.

So instead of calling: How to do X thing. I’ll say: Here’s How I did.

And then, I’ll share all the knowledge and experience I have. This not only helps me position myself as an authority on the topic (because I’ve done the work), but it also protects me from all the criticism and bullsh*t.

It’s been close to six months since I’ve been using this framework, and can say, it works. It’s working way better than writing about a topic you have no idea of — and getting negative comments and criticism for the lack of your better understanding of the topic.

But you might ask: What if I don’t have knowledge or experience about the subject I’m writing?

Don’t write. Why do you even bother to write about a topic when you have no specific knowledge about the topic? If you haven’t done the work, you don’t know anything about the subject. Don’t write.

Because if you write, your story will lack information. And for this reason, you’ll get a lot of hate & criticism, which, of course, you don’t want, right?

So what’s the solution?

You can first learn about the topic for six months or more and soak all the information and knowledge. This process of doing the “Work” will help you gain experience around the topic — by default.

Then start teaching.

Here is a screenshot of a few of the stories I’ve written using this framework. FYI, there are countless stories I’ve written like this.

The best thing about this approach is, it works. The stories go viral.

So instead of calling them “How to do x” I said, “How I did x.” Because I have done the work, so I have the knowledge and experience about the topic I wrote about.

Again, this is what has worked for me…might work for you. Take it or leave it.

Thanks for reading!
