Let’s face it: 2024 is about to start, only a few weeks left. So, my friend, it’s time to do something meaningful so you can say “Get lost!” to your arrogant boss and your cheap clients.
So what’s the plan, what can I do? You ask.
Well, there are so many things you can do in 2024. But I’m only going to tell you the way that is the “Future of work.” What’s that?
Building an audience. Yup. Building your audience. And you do it by writing online.
I’m not telling you to start a YouTube channel, I’m not telling you to start a podcast, I’m not telling you to go make music or something.
Writing. You build your audience by writing online. Because writing is the foundation of all. It’s the base of everything you do online.
Let me give you a little context about this audience-building game.
How does Nike make money? How does Amazon make money?
It’s the same concept. They have an audience. The audience that trusts the brand. The audience that buys their products.
Any business you can imagine works on the audience-building concept. Even the client business. If there is no audience, there is no business.
So why you’re not doing the thing that has a tremendous opportunity, and almost no downside? Why do you think the client's work or doing a job is the only way to survive? You need to change something!
Amazon. Google. Apple. Tesla. Nike. Coca-Cola. Microsoft. Samsung. BMW. Mrbeast. Elon Musk. T-series. You name it. Everything is an audience-building business.
Strangers don’t buy from you. People don’t buy the product they don’t know about. They must trust the brand if they want to buy.
Do you see what’s happening? Audience business.
Audience building is audience business. The Business that scales.
So build your audience and build your business this way. It’s a game you can play for the rest of your life. No more next job, no more new office desk, no retirement plan.
This is an infinite game.
Instead of working for your boss, your client, and other people — start working for yourself. Build things you want to build. Write stuff that you want to read. When you look back, you can’t be more grateful for what you’ve done. Seriously.
But of course, audience building isn’t an easy game. Of course, it’s not a quick rich scheme. But the truth is, it’s possible and achievable. So many brands and people have already done it. You can too.
So where should you start?
Pick one platform. Oh sorry, one writing platform. Like Medium, Substack, Twitter, or LinkedIn, and start creating content there.
What should you write about?
Write about the topics that you find interesting. Write about the topics that you want to educate yourself on. Write about the things you know. Write about your knowledge and the experience you have. In the beginning, you should not be thinking about monetization but just get the ball rolling.
But Har, I can’t take risks and I don’t have any income source if I quit freelancing or my job.
Listen: no one has everything figured out. Certainly, I don’t too. But I never did any freelance work or any 9–5, ever. And see, I’ve been doing this writing and audience-building thing as a full-time writer since 2022.
I don’t even earn $1000s per month, but just enough to pay my bills.
But, you know the best part? Since I work for myself. I don’t have a boss. No one can yell at me. I don’t need to attend any meetings. I don’t need to follow any schedule. I don’t need to sell my sanity for money. I don’t compromise my health for money. I have freedom, complete freedom. I have complete control over my time and sanity. And this is what I love.
But my circumstances are different than yours.
Maybe you live in a 1st world country, so you must make enough money per month to pay your bills. If that’s you, then you need to save enough money for the first 6–12 months so you can quit freelancing or your job and start your project. Another option? Start it as a side hustle.
Trust me, if you do it correctly, you can change your life forever. If you don’t try, you never achieve. If you don’t take risks, you have no unfair advantage.
