How To Capture Ideas And Write Amazing Stories About Them
The only secret you need to know
Finding interesting ideas is hard. Isn’t it?
The most common problem for almost all writers is “I don’t have ideas to write.” Have you ever felt the same way? I understand.
“Idea” is what makes stories worth reading and writing. The more interesting ideas you have, the more amazing stories you can write. It’s that simple, right?
But how do I find ideas or “interesting ideas? Glad you asked.
Let me tell you: it’s not really that hard to find ideas. You’re making it complicated. To find ideas, you have to do something. ANYTHING.
You can’t just doom-scroll Instagram or TikTok and hope for interesting ideas to pop into your mind. It’s not going to happen.
Here’s what you need to do…
Consume Amazing Content
This is the first way to find ideas.
If you want to find great ideas, you have to consume great content. It’s not complicated because the more amazing the content, the more amazing things you can learn from the content and, of course, you’ll get amazing ideas that you can write about. True?
So how do you get and consume amazing content? Good question.
There are many ways to consume content these days. It’s not 1993 when you only read blog posts. Technology has evolved.
You can search on YouTube for relevant topics. You can listen to podcasts about your topics. You can read books that interest you, and so on. There are countless ways to do it. Don’t just stick to one medium, use and consume all of them. Watch videos, read books, listen to podcasts, read blog posts, and more.
Now, the important point is that whenever a new idea strikes you, write it down somewhere. You can take notes on your mobile or laptop, or use a notebook.
But the point is you have to write down the idea because if you don’t, you’ll 100% forget it within an hour or so. So make sure you write it down.
Go For Long Walks
The second best way to find ideas.
I get a lot of ideas when I go for a walk. This is by far the best way for me to find interesting ideas. I don’t know why it works, but it always does.
Walking is something that many top writers and creators recommend doing, and I believe you should build a habit of walking.
But the one condition you need to follow is: don’t check your phone when you’re walking, or better yet, don’t even bring your phone with you when you go for a walk.
Mobile phones are a distraction when you’re free.
And then, while walking, when an idea strikes you, write it down on a piece of paper.
But you may ask: Okay, I get it. I have a lot of ideas to write about, but how do I turn them into interesting stories? Glad you remember the headline.
To create amazing content, you really don’t need to use tricks, hacks, or magic. It’s simple.
Here’s what you have to do.
Write From Your Journey
I know it seems a bit confusing — Let me explain…
When you want to write about a topic, you shouldn’t rely on what others have said, or even what other gurus say about the topic. Instead, write from your journey because this is what your audience cares about.
What do I mean by that?
So assume, you got the idea, no matter what medium it came from (walking or watching a video) the idea is there, you did some research on it, and now you have enough knowledge about the topic.
Because, of course, you have to know enough about the topic you want to write about. It’s important.
And when I say “journey,” I mean your experience, knowledge, perspective, point of view, your opinion, and more. In other words, what do you really think about the topic? What’s your experience with the topic? What’s your perspective on it? What is your point of view? What do you think about it?
This is what you have to add to your stories to make them interesting and unique.
When you do this, it automatically becomes interesting to your readers because they care about you, your opinions, and your perspective.
Trust me, try doing it, and see if you notice any difference.
You won’t regret doing it — I promise.
