My friend, I won’t be writing this type of story in the future!

So pay close attention and just listen to what I say if you want to go viral. Remember, what I’m about to show you can make your head swing. At the same time, you’ll find them interesting and you can’t help but try to implement them.

I guarantee.

Let me first show you the 6 stories that went viral this month:

This means, every week I went viral, sometimes twice a week this month. And this isn’t the first time. I have so many months like this. So how do I do it? This is exactly what I’m gonna show you.

Let’s dive in!

1. Ecosystem

Don’t get confused.

Ecosystem means I’ve built my own empire. How? I write in one niche, and that one niche gives me niche followers. What does it do? It Increases my story engagement.

Sounds confusing? Let me explain.

When you write about one topic — you attract one type of audience. And the followers you get only care about the one topic you write — if you suddenly switch or write about another topic you’ll see a massive drop in your story engagement.

This is what happens with most writers on Medium.

To avoid this trap, I write in one niche, and because I get niche followers who are only interested in the topic I write about. So if I switch to another topic I won’t get enough engagement.

Can confirm.

So what it actually does? It indicates to the algorithm that the topics or stories I’m writing are actually good (because of good engagement) so chances of the me going viral on Medium increase exponentially.

2. Headline

When was the last time you read the story just because the headline grabbed your attention?

Pretty recently, right? Maybe yesterday.

You can’t deny the fact that the headline is what opens the loop for you. It invites the reader to your story. But the reader only accepts your invitation if they see any benefits in your headline.

Whenever you write a headline, ask these questions:

  • What benefit I’m giving here?
  • What problem I’m solving here?
  • How can I change the headline and rewrite it?

Here’s more for you to write great headlines:

3. Hook

This is so important.

The hook is what grabs the reader’s attention. Don’t just write great headlines, try learning how to write great hooks.

And when I say hook, I mean the first few sentences or paragraphs at the start of the story. The hook comes understand your introduction part, where you first begin the writing.

How to hook the reader?

  • Ask a question
  • Tell an anecdote story
  • State a strong point

Remember how I started this story? Stated a strong point.

4. Skimmability

If your stories aren’t skimmable, they aren’t readable.

On Medium, people first skim the story before reading it. So you must make your stories skimmable. What’s skimmability?

Let me explain.

It’s a method to optimize your story so a reader can skim the main points, sub-points, and bullet points without actually reading them.

Imagine reading this story without the main points. Would you have read the story? I don’t think so.

You’re reading this story till this point because I made it so skimmable for you to read it. How? By adding main points and bullet points.

This is how you do it, my friend.

5. Value Proposition

Your stories have to be valuable.

Crap content gets crickets. The first question a reader asks before reading the story is: What value am I getting by reading the story? If they don’t get the answer right, you lose their attention.

Now the “Value” word kinda seems vague, right?

So let me elaborate…

  • Value is when you solve people’s problems through a story.
  • Value is when you teach people something through your story.
  • Value is when you inspire people through your story.
  • Value you when you educate people through your story.

There is an infinite form to provide value.

In my experience, the best way to provide value is to teach or solve a problem through your stories. I believe both are extremely effective.
