Building an audience is the best thing you can do in 2023 and beyond.

You can’t scam people online and try to make money. Of course, you can do it and thrive for a while, but it doesn’t scale. And to be honest, doing this is a sin.

So you have to do real things on the internet to make money. And that’s what I did — I built my audience. (Well, still building.)

Building an audience isn’t an easy thing. Certainly, it’s not.

However, with a little help and watching other people who’ve built their audience, you can build yours too.

Here are the 5 things you should do if you want to build the fastest-growing audience for yourself.

1. Show Them Who You Are

I mean show your name and face.

Most people are afraid of showing their name or face on the internet. Okay, at some level it can work, but if you really want to build a huge audience in less time, then you have to show your face.

What happens is, when you show your face, they see you, and when they see you — they trust you. (Human Nature 101)

So put your name and profile picture on your account. And watch your account grow faster than ever.

Now you might also have seen so many people have built an audience anonymously by not showing their name and face. Yes, it works, as I said. But it won’t work as well as putting your name and picture behind your brand.

It’s all about human-to-human connection.

2. Write, Write, And Write

Your audience wants value from you.

You can’t expect a huge audience while publishing once in 3 months. You have to be frequent. To build an audience, you consistently have to create content in your account.

However, it really grows slowly in the beginning but as you keep writing it really compounds over the course of time.

Maintain consistency.

3. Double Down On Winners

Cut down the losers and double down on the winners.

Now what do I mean by that? You write content, some of them perform well, and some of them don’t. So what should your next action be? You should double down on the content that performs well.

Understand the content structure, topic, the way you wrote it, and why it did well. And try to come up with similar content — chances are if you do it you’ll grow faster.

It’s a signal that tells “This is what you have to create.”

I did the same when I started writing on Medium. I was writing mainly about 3 topics: make money online, online writing, and self-improvement. But as my “writing” topics performed well — I doubled down on that.

And now you only find content from me about writing and some audience-building stuff.

But mainly writing.

4. Make It Way More Valuable

The content is king.

Content is what drives people to follow you — there is no way around it. Don’t even dare to think that “Oh, let me just make my profile top-notch and I’ll gain more followers while having crappy content.” No, it’s not going to happen.

You aren’t going to get any followers regardless of how good your profile is. If your content isn’t good — Nothing can help you get true followers.

You have to make your content so valuable that people can’t stop following you. And they follow you because they want to read more from you.

The Halo Effect.

5. Wait, Wait, And Wait

Building an audience is a long-term game.

You can’t expect to gain many followers in a short time. However, there will be times when you go viral and get a bunch of followers in a short time, but that doesn’t happen so often.

So make realistic expectations and have patience. Don’t get demotivated when you don’t see any results. Keep doing what you’re doing for enough time and you’ll eventually start to see some progress.

Trust me. There were many weeks and months when I didn’t see any follower growth in my account but I still kept writing, and now I’m at 4,700.

This is how it works.
