How I Accumulated 741 Followers In One Month Applying This Ideology
And 54 Email Subscribers
I’m talking about July month.
Growing on Medium is much harder than ever, bots are removed (who tend to follow you most) Medium monthly visitors are decreasing gradually, and top writers are leaving the platform (so readers).
With all these situations, Is it really possible to grow quickly on the platform?
100%.
If you work strategically, then it’s absolutely possible. And this is the reason I got 741+ followers and 54 email subscribers in July. However, I do believe it’s a big number on Medium. (See the picture)
And the fun part is, the next month (august) is just started, and within 2 days of this month I got 100+ followers with 11 email subscribers.
Impressive?
Ok, the results are quite good, so what’s the secret behind it?
Let me tell you.
I Changed My Mindset From Blog To Brand
The new way of thinking.
I changed my whole perspective about my Medium account. Instead of calling it a blog, I started calling it a brand. This means I'm the brand of my Medium account.
With this mindset, I changed my entire Medium account home page.
- My previous picture on the logo was not looking professional. I looked like a 17-year juvenile(at least) thus, I changed it into a new one.
- My previous banner post was a wallpaper of nature. I removed that banner post and attached all the business stuff there.
- I changed my bio a little bit, I tried to do some copywriting stuff there, and now it’s looking good there.
- I changed my about page, made it more clear, concise, and simple, I attached all my resources and products there.
Now it looks like this —
- The last thing I changed was my email marketing page, again I did some copywriting, I tried to make it more valuable and a no-brainer.
Like this —
This helped me to gain more email subscribers.
Obviously, content is king.
So why I did do this?
The first thing, I asked myself was: Why would someone follow me or why would someone subscribe to my email list?
One for followers. Second for email subscribers.
And I did it all, and the results are in front of you.
The Ideology Behind It
The concept is so simple.
Once a new reader reads your post, for sure they will check your profile before following you. And if your profile sucks, you will lose the reader.
You’re a human, not a Medium bot, so think about it, if you add some wallpaper on your banner post. Sin-chan picture on your logo. If you write in your bio: I love cats, I love dogs, I travel a lot. No one cares about that, and no one is going to follow you. (Business perspective)
You’ll have to give them the reason: why they should follow you and once they follow you, what they can expect from you.
Period.
You’re here to share your thought, knowledge, and experience, but don’t forget you’re also a brand of yourself. Change your perspective behind it, you’re bearing your time to write an 800 words article per day or once a week. Don’t let it waste.
Think as a personal brand, not as a blogger.
And, trust me, this is the only reason I accumulated such amounts of followers & subscribers in one month. I don’t know if you’ll like my ideology or not, but to be honest, this is who am I NOW.
Also, let me know in the comment section how many followers and subscribers you have accumulated in July.
