Chasing Follower Game Is Ruining Your Writing Life
The Problem You Need To Know ASAP
Are You New to The Platform?
Followers... Followers... Followers... and Followers…
The only thing that had come to my mind when I started writing on medium without dropping a single post.
How to get followers? more followers?
I was trapped in the same game as every new writer gets trapped.
The follower's games.
I started chasing followers.
Either I followed everyone who followed me or first I followed them and they followed me back. Even I've written a post about it (How silly I was?😥)
But I soon realized that there is nothing to do with followers.
Then what?
I stopped. Completely.
I had 56 followers at that time thought follow for follow method.
But as soon as I realized that I'm trapped in the same game where new writers get trapped and I had to get out of it. and I did.
Since then I never want followers I want a loyal audience, who reads my stuff, my content, and follow me for my content not for being a follower, I want them to clap on my post, comment on my post, and also share my post for a reason.
As my audience is growing rapidly I thought it would be the best time to tell about it and I’m here with my words. After that, I suggest every writer that don't chase followers, build audience, and make your craft better, write as much as you can.
But I've seen so many new writers who came to the platform and look for some fancy, shortcuts to get followers, to get tractions overall for success. that will never going to happen.
Still, most writers comment on my post like — please follow me, I've followed you but you didn't follow me yet. kind off.
I Don’t Give A Fuck
I Engage with the writers who genuinely engage with my content (by commenting)
That said,
But I have also seen people still chasing the same follower's games even if they have archived some sort of milestone like 100 followers, 500 followers even 1000 followers.
One thing I want to ask all of them — What the hell you’re going to do with that number?
Writing is not something that you can compare with followers, writing is an art, a craft, a skill, whatever you can call it. And to master the skill it will definitely gonna take time…. 100000%
Instead of chasing followers, write 1 or 10 posts to take leverage of that time. that's the way you can beat the game of writing.
But, who the hell am I to tell this all the rubbish( but harsh true) to you?
I'm not someone special, but I do care about my audience, and it's my responsibility to guide them on the right path. and maybe that’s the reason they've followed me… (for sure)
Because I know some of them (out of 400 of my audience) also chasing that same type of game right now that I don't want to suggest.
let me ask you one more question — what if medium gets shut down tomorrow?
Just think about it.
Please guys stop it, please stop — there is nothing to do with followers.
Instead of chasing followers write per day every day, every second, minute, and hour, and make your craft better. Don't make the same mistake that I have made (although I too early realized it)
Time is precious, use it for better work, not for the garbage one.
Period.
I hope you will learn something from this post, if yes then clap it, comment on it, and share it with your loved ones.
Keep writing.
