Feeling Stuck As A Writer? Read This
Recharge Your Batteries
Let’s embrace it…
You’re supposed to feel stuck. The writer’s journey isn’t full of bread and butter. But it’s a path full of ups and downs — pain and problems.
You solve one problem, the new problem is in front of you. You make one mistake, don’t wonder, you’re just about to make another one. Non-stop.
You put all your energy into writing one great Medium story. You just hit publish. It didn’t do well. All of a sudden now you’re demotivated because the story that took you hours to write — didn’t do anything for you.
And now you don’t feel like writing the next story.
Another scenario: the last story you published has gotten thousands of views, and thousands of claps, and tons of comments. But the recent story that you’ve published only got crickets!
The 180॰ rotation!
Why does it happen what happens?
I don’t know. But if there is one thing I’m pretty sure about this journey is that it’s full of roller coasters. If you get scared, you’re fucked. If you enjoy it, you’ll love it. So the best thing you can do is to take 100% responsibility for whatever happens and enjoy the ride.
No matter, how successful you become as a writer, there is always the next goal, the next milestone, the next accomplishment. It never ends.
And no wonder, how successful you become, you’re always going to feel stuck, demotivated, frustrated, and dumb somewhere along the way.
But you know what, that’s a journey worth going on.
If you really-really feel stuck right now the another best thing you can do is “To recharge your batteries.” What do I mean by that? Lemme explain…
Maybe go for a short trip. Maybe hang out with your friends and family. Maybe read a ton of books for weeks or months. Or maybe binge-watch Netflix.
Do whatever you love except your main work.
Come back and you’ll feel that you’re just starting this writing journey. I’ve done it a couple of times. And trust me it works. It always works.
It’s important to not feel stuck and enjoy the ride. And if needed recharge your batteries by doing OTHER things you love. That’s the only way to keep going!
