Let’s face it.

In this attention economy, the human attention span is less than 8 sec, so if you can’t capture their attention in the 8 sec, you’ll lose them. Also, you know better how important headlines are, whether it’s a youtube video, Twitter thread, Linkedin post, or your Medium post, headlines matter most.

But, when it comes to the headline, there are mainly two types:

  • Clear Headline.
  • Clever Headline.

Let’s start with the clever headline:

Clever Headline

Maybe you’ve seen this type of headline often.

Clever headline is a type of headline that fails to deliver the information to a reader, the information can be: who is for, what is about, and what’s the benefits of clicking the headline. It means a clever headline doesn't carry enough details about the topic, thus it confuses the reader.

I call these “Fool Headlines”

Clear Headline

Your headlines should be clear.

Clear headline is a type of headline that displays: what is about, who is for, and what the reader will get if they click on the headline AKA “benefit”. A clear headline creates curiosity in the reader’s mind by showing them the clarity and benefit. And this is the reason this type of headline gets more clicks.

Final Touch

Make sure your headlines are clear.

Don’t confuse the reader, let them know what your headline is about. Because the majority of people prefer, not to click on a headline if the headline is not clear itself.

I’m done.
