Oh my gosh, I can’t tell how excited I’m to share with you something.

(This post is especially for Indian writers.)

But first, let’s admit something. Do you know 99% of the Indian writers who write on Medium make $0 directly on the platform? Yes. This is true. Meaning you earn nothing directly on Medium.

The reason? Simple. Because you can’t join the Medium partner program.

My goodness. Isn’t that ridiculous? You put all your efforts and time to write articles but in exchange, you earn almost nothing.

However, you get some gigs, opportunities, connections, and followers. But not more than that. Because you don’t sell any program, courses, coaching, or membership. So you don’t earn money. This is the case with most Indian writers. But you wished “I wish MPP was available in India.” Tell me if this is true? I got you.

But you write on Medium because you:

  • Enjoy writing
  • Love sharing your thoughts
  • Love sharing your knowledge and experience

And that’s totally ok though. Money is not all that matters.

But…But…But…what if I told you that Medium is going to pay you for your work?

Yes. You read it right. Soon you can directly make money writing on Medium through the Medium partner program.

Wait, Har, what do you mean by soon? Yes, you got it. Now lemme explain… it’s haven’t officially launched yet but they’re planning to launch it on the 1st of August 2023. Clear?

And I can’t be more excited about this. Because FYI, I’ve been writing on Medium for more than 15 months now but I directly made $0 from it (not counting my personal earnings)

But finally, as an Indian writer, I’m also excited about this new update.

All thanks to my friend Yugant Nakhawa who shared this article with me.

You can read the whole article about what changes they’re going to make and what updates they’re bringing to the table.

But for now, I just wanna put a screenshot of one of the sections of that article because it’s more exciting for me as well as for you as an Indian writer. Here you go:

How beautiful is this?

But still, all of the things are unclear: like, what payment methods they will allow? What about taxes? What sort of documents they’d ask for?

But all we can do is— hope for the best.

Tell me in the comment section how excited you’re about this news.

Now finally Indian writers can make a living writing on Medium.

Isn’t that beautiful?
