Everyone starts From Zero.

There are no shortcuts. if you’re looking for shortcuts— Please Stop.

Every career has a different level of phases, which also applies in the writing. There are certain phases in writing, and in these phases, you make a certain amount of money (low to high). Because your ultimate goal is to make money from what you do. Isn’t It?

Being a writer and making money from it is not — Hard. Although it takes time to make money through writing.

Writing is not a quick-rich scheme.

So let's start with the complete scratch, how you can become a writer to an author, and from making almost NOTHING to million-dollar revenue per month or maybe per year.

Let’s jump in —

Phase: 1 — Start As A Beginner Writer (Learner)

This is the first step of your writing journey, in this stage, your goal wouldn't be to make money.

In this stage, you have to master the craft of writing, your first six or one years will be going for your work without thinking about money. In this time period, you have to learn the basics of writing, copywriting, writing fundamentals, and some sales and marketing stuff.

To practice that skill, the best place to start with is — Medium.

Start writing daily on medium, make mistakes, learn from your mistakes, and repeat them as much as you can. Writing on Medium allow you to get instant feedback for your work, and it also helps you to build your online audience.

Phase: 2— Become A Freelance Writer

Once you crossed the journey of a six or one-year period time, it's time to look for some work and make some money from it. In order to make money, you can reach out to some clients.

LinkedIn is a great platform to find clients for you, reach out to them and if they ask you for a sample — send them your medium profile link.

Another way — if you have a good-looking profile on Medium and your writing is good, then you will get clients on medium, there are so many peoples active on the platform who are looking for writers. If that happens you will get clients easily by medium only.

Also, you can create profiles on platforms like Fiver and Upwork, and you can get clients over there.

Now you’re going to make some money.

Phase: 3— Provide Services And Consulting

Your 3rd phase would be providing services and consultancy of your Skills.

What you have done so far in these 2 to 3 years. (for sure — client works, and writing advice) All you have to do is start providing the services and consultancy of your skills.

You can provide services like — writing Tips, freelancing, client work, and how to grow on medium things like that.

I'm assuming that it would be a very big period of time if you write on medium for 2 to 3 years, you can easily get 30k to 50k followers. You can charge pretty much a good reasonable amount of money for your services.

People want to learn from you, just you have to ask them.

Let’s say you have 20k followers on medium, a writer who has just started out writing on Medium would love to take service from you because you have already done (stability) what he wants to do.

Once you start your services and consulting business — your income goes into the sky. Because you charge for every second of your time.

Phase: 4— Make Courses And Products

Once you figured out what I'm best of. make your courses and products around that.

Suppose you did consult for almost one year, you did provide services related, to writing, freelancing, audience growth on medium, etc, and your data telling you that most people want to learn from you is — writing Strategies.

Now it's time to create a course about — Writing.

Make your course — No brainer — full of hidden Gems — make it affordable.

Now you’re in the serious writing business.

Phase: 5—Become A Public Speaker

This is the 5th phase of your writing journey — once you earned some credibility and some shorts of authority in your domain.

It's time to go with public speaking.

Instead of teaching one by one in consultancy calls or by providing services. You can charge by organizing a workshop or seminar and becoming a speaker at that event. Also, there are so many companies or firms that look for speakers who can teach their employees and audience.

Money is going to be BIG in this phase.

But this will only be going to happen once you have earned some shorts of credibility and authority in the market.

Phase: 6— Become An Author

This is the 6th phase of your writing journey, in this phase, you can write books, and novels, for your audience.

Whatever your domain is, write books around that, don't go beyond of.

You can get inspiration from authors like Mark Mansion, and James clear, these were used to be a blogger first, but now they all are best-selling authors in the world.

Learn from other authors and apply the thing to you.

This is going to be very big business (of course your love) once you know, how to play the game effectively,

Phase: 7—Launch Agency

And last but not least, in the 7th phase, if you want to scale your writing business to the next level, you can launch your — writing agency.

Take this pure like running a company, you have to hire — writers, executives, copywriters and so many skilled persons who will work for you.

Although this is exceptional, if you don't want to open an agency — Don’t go for it. But if you love to work at a scalable level — Agency is the go-to way.

Period.

No shortcuts, just a step by steps phase of the writing journey.

You can’t become an author without being a beginner writer. You can’t sell your services without learning the skills.

Everything has a step-by-step process.

That's why —

Love the journey forget the destination
