5 Little-Known Ways That Will Instantly Improve Your Writing
The ways you have been waiting for years to read!
Do you want to improve your writing? Great. Stick around.
The way you write online — influences people and changes people’s behaviors. I believe knowing how to write well is the biggest and most powerful skill to have. If you can master it — you can do whatever the hell you want to do. Literally.
But let’s face it: the writers you admire were also bad writers in their old days. They weren’t born great writers, they became great writers by learning the elements of good writing.
And this is exactly what I’m about to teach you in this post.
Here are the 5 ways to improve your writing:
Way 1: Write Short Paragraphs
Imagine reading this paragraph:
“Do you want to improve your writing? Great. Stick around. The way you write influences people — it changes people’s minds and the way they think about you. I believe knowing how to write well is the biggest and most powerful skill to have. If you can master it — you can do whatever the hell you want to do. Literally. But let’s face it: the writers you admire were also bad writers in their old days. They weren’t born great writers; they became great writers by learning the elements of good writing. And this is what I’m about to teach you in this post.”
It’s the same writing that you just read in the above section.
Let me ask you: would you have read the intro of this article if I’d started like this? Definitely not, right?
Maybe you’ve read the first few sentences, and you have lost the flow.
This paragraph above? It’s annoying. No one would like to read it unless it’s written by Barack Obama.
The point I’m trying to explain here is: You should write short and crispy paragraphs that please the reader’s eye.
Way 2: Start Using You And Your
Now read these sentences and paragraphs below:
“Hey there!
We’d like to inform you guys that we just made some drastic changes to our community that all of you must know. Our readers often ask us to improve our custom feed, and we’re pleased to inform our readers that we finally did it.
Thanks, folks.”
So boring right? Doesn’t seem they’re talking to you. You get it.
Now read this one:
“Hey [your name]!
We’d like to inform you that we just made some drastic changes to our community that you must know. You readers, often asked us to improve our custom feed, and we’re pleased to inform you that we finally did it.
Thank you.
See this now. It’s the same writing but a much bigger difference by just adding “You” in writing.
The point is when you add “You” and “Your” in your writing it makes your writing way more personal, and the reader feels like you’re directly talking to them.
So use as many “You and “Your” as possible in your writing and make it personal.
Way 3: Use Slippery Slide Sentences
The most profound writing hack ever.
Ever noticed when I trick you by saying something:
- “Let me explain”
- “Here is the point”
- “Let me be clear with this” or “Right?”
You get this. These are the sentences that make the reader curious.
When you write them, the reader wants to read the next sentence. And it smoothly slides the reader to the next sentence or paragraph.
Here’s why you should use it:
On the internet, most people are bored reading the long and fluffy content. So when they find interesting and valuable content, they can’t help but read. And these slippery slide phrases make your writing way more powerful.
Did you know about this trick?
Way 4: Give Examples And Metaphor
By far the best writing hack.
Want to position yourself as an authority? Give more examples. It not only makes your writing helpful but also helps the reader go “Wow, this writer really knows his stuff.”
Giving relevant examples helps you do it.
It also makes your writing way more engaging and interesting to read because people love reading examples of the things they are reading to understand the concept better.
Use it for your advantage.
Way 5: Be Authentic And Valuable
Do not try to copycat others.
The best writing tip I can give you is “Be you.” Don’t copy someone’s style, voice, or anything. Just write like you write. Trust me your audience will love it.
As they say: you don’t need to find your writing voice, you already have one — you just have to make it better.
So true right? So be as authentic as possible.
Be valuable. When you write content, the one question that you should always ask yourself is “What value I’m providing by writing this article?”
If you can get the answer to that question — you have all the eyeballs you want.
Don’t write just for the sake of writing.
